Executive Dean,Nanjing University and NYU-Poly Joint Institute for Innovation
and Entrepreneurship
The Institute, currently under construction in Xianlin University Town at
Nanjing, Jiangsu Province in China, is organized under the auspice of Nanjing
University, but governed by a Joint Administrative Council (JAC) with
representation from both Nanjing University and Polytechnic Institute of New
York University. It now invites national and international applications and
nominations for the position of Executive Dean. Its objectives include but not
limited to the following:
•Educate future leaders in science, engineering, management and other selected
areas
•Foster curricular, instructional and research collaboration between faculties
from the two universities
•Provide advanced training in innovation, technology and management to support
the continuing and professional development of professionals working in
domestic and multinational corporations, as well as in public sector
•Implement, with the support from public and private sources, innovative and/or
entrepreneurial programs to help sustain the social and economic vitality of
Nanjing and its neighboring cities in Yangtze River Delta region.
The Executive Dean, who is appointed by and reports to JAC, is the Chief
Executive Officer in charge of all administrative, financial and program
development aspects of the Institute, including securing funds by grant,
contract and/or individual donation to support the program.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both
English and Chinese, but needs not be a Chinese or American citizen. He/she
must demonstrate leadership skills and a proven successful record in either
industry or academia. Work experience with a multinational corporation in both
U.S. and China is preferred but not required. A minimum work experience of 10
years beyond the Bachelor degree is required; graduate degrees either in a
technical or management field are preferred. The candidate with suitable
academic background and credentials may be appointed to a non-tenure-track
faculty position at either university upon the review and approval by the
appropriate entities of that university. Other qualifications include:
•The ability to develop an engaging, challenging vision for enhancement in
teaching, research and program development in support of the Institute’s
mission
•The ability to be a catalyst for change and to productively engage staff and
students in programmatic innovation
•A commitment to firm, objective and ethical decisions
•Strong academic and fiscal management abilities, including the willingness to
delegate appropriately
Salary will be based upon skills and experience related to this position and
is expected to be set at the high-end for a senior faculty and/or administrator
in China, and is negotiable. An interested candidate should forward his/her
